A Walk Around Town

Ach so! I finally have some pictures of Graz to show everyone! Friday I found myself with no classes, and no money to enjoy my "freizeit" so I decided it was a gorgeous day to take my camera on a walk around Graz. So here is Graz, the town whom at one point named their stadium after Arnold Schwarzenegger.
This is the Stadtpark (city park), which is only a few blocks from my dormitory and campus. The fountain is a replica of the famous on in Paris (name?), but Graz's is covered in graffiti and isn't always running. In the background, you see Graz's iconic clock tower.
The Stadtpark has a variety of sculptures, plants, and bodies of water. It's popular among everyone and is a common passageway connecting the city center to the university.

This is the part of Graz known as the "Altstadt" (old city)

This is the Rathouse (town hall) of Graz

Running through the center of the city is the Mur river. It's not calm and tranquil, it moves very quickly!

By the riverside is a lot of cool graffiti and this rock climbing wall i found!

In the center of the Mur river is what is called the "Murinseln" (Mur Island)

The Murinseln is a small ampitheater that also acts as a cafe!

This is Graz's (in)famous Kunsthaus (Art Museum)!

Many locals call it the "kidney" because of it's strange shape

Graz ALSO has a love lock bridge. I haven't been able to put a lock on it yet ^_^

And THIS is Graz's "crown jewel" die Schlossberg (Castle Mountain), you can see the ruins of the old castle on the left and the clock tower on the right. Fun fact: Last night I was at a BIG dance party INSIDE the Schlossberg! There is a club INSIDE the mountain!

And these stairs are one of the many ways to get up to the top of Schlossberg

This is the view of Graz to the northwest as you're going up the stairs.

This is the view of Graz to the southwest (halfway up), can you spot the Rathaus?

This is the view directly to the west, the Kunsthaus stick out amongst the sea of red roofs..

Getting closer to the clock tower!

And this is the view from the top! You can still spot the "kidney."

This a just a public square on my walk home, and I loved seeing the sun behind the Clock Tower.
NOTE: In an effort to support myself (financially) while I'm abroad I have started a portfolio of my favorite pictures at 500px.com/KarlJacobs3 and soon prints of the photos will be available for purchase! Therefore, ALL of my photos from Graz can be found here on Facebook. The photos with the most likes will be added to 500px and can be purchased. I'm hoping this will be a nice way for everyone (who's asked how) to support me!
